Description

Dio was born in 1867-1868 in Great Britain, into the family of Dario Brando, a thief and alcoholic. Dario pretended to be the savior of the newborn Jonathan, so that his family would take Dio in, thus planning to inherit the Joestar family's fortune. Although Dio hated his father, he agreed to this plan.

When Dario dies, Dio spits on his grave. Seeing Jonathan as the legitimate heir, Dio sees him as the main obstacle to obtaining the family estate and torments the boy in every possible way — from humiliating Jonathan's dignity, forcibly stealing his first kiss from Erina Pendleton, Jonathan's girl, to burning Jonathan's dog named Danny alive. The situation was exacerbated by Jonathan's father, George Joestar, who, out of pity, did not notice Dio's tricks. In such conditions, Jonathan and Dio lived for 7 years. Dio stopped persecuting Jonathan, but he began secretly poisoning his stepfather's tea with poison so that he would die faster and Dio could inherit his share sooner. Jonathan foils this plan.

In desperation, Dio tries on himself the mysterious stone mask that hung on the wall of the living room and reacted to blood. Dio turns into a vampire and begins killing everyone in sight, including George. Only Jonathan and Speedwagon survive, and the estate turns out to be burned to the ground. Dio himself is severely injured and to regain his strength he begins killing people, as well as resurrecting long-dead heroes whom he sends to fight against Jonathan.
